Bristol (1866)
Bristol was a large sidewheel steamer launched in 1866 by William H. Webb of New York for the Merchants Steamship Company. One of Narragansett Bay's so-called "floating palaces", the luxuriously outfitted Bristol and her sister ship Providence, each of which could carry up to 1,200 passengers, were installed with the largest engines then built in the United States, and were considered to be amongst the finest American-built vessels of their era.
Both ships would spend their entire careers steaming between New York and various destinations in and around Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. Bristol was eventually destroyed by a fire while in port in 1888.
Development
Bristol and Providence owed their existence to a short-lived company known as the Merchants Steamship Company, which placed the initial order for the vessels with the Webb shipyard in about 1865. Merchants Steamship was an amalgamation of three existing Narragansett Bay shipping lines, the Commercial Line, Neptune Line and Stonington Line. The Company intended to run the two steamers between New York and Bristol, Rhode Island in competition with the Fall River Line, which ran a similar service from New York to Fall River, Massachusetts (both Lines then linking up to railway lines that continued on to Boston).

Bristol, Virginia
Bristol is an independent city in the U.S. state of Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,835. It is the twin city of Bristol, Tennessee, just across the state line, which runs down the middle of its main street, State Street. The Bureau of Economic Analysis combines the city of Bristol, Virginia, with neighboring Washington County, Virginia, for statistical purposes. Bristol is a principal city of the Kingsport–Bristol–Bristol, TN-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region.
History
Originally named "Goodson", it was renamed "Bristol" (after Bristol, England) in 1890.
The Grove, Solar Hill Historic District, and Walnut Grove are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Geography
Bristol is located in southwestern Virginia at 36°36′N 82°11′W / 36.600°N 82.183°W / 36.600; -82.183 (36.6111, -82.1762). It is bordered to the west, north, and east by Washington County, Virginia, and to the south by the city of Bristol in Sullivan County, Tennessee.

Bristol, Pennsylvania
Bristol is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, 23 miles (37 km) northeast of Center City Philadelphia, opposite Burlington, New Jersey on the Delaware River. Bristol was first incorporated in 1720. Although its charter was revised in 1905, the original charter remains in effect, making Bristol one of the older boroughs in Pennsylvania. 7,104 people lived in Bristol in 1900; 9,256 in 1910; 10,273 in 1920; and 11,895 in 1940. The population was 9,726 at the 2010 census. The current Mayor is Patrick Sabatini Sr. The first female Mayor was Margaret Stakenas, elected in 1979.
History
Bristol was first settled in 1681 as Buckingham (for Buckingham, England). It was originally used as a port and dock. Bristol is rich in history, boasting many historic and restored houses that line the streets of Radcliffe and Mill.
Until 1725 Bristol served as county seat of Bucks County.
From its earliest days Bristol was a center of milling. With the building of the Delaware Canal and the Pennsylvania Railroad it became a center of transportation and an attractive location for industry.

THE UK'S COOLEST CITY? (Bristol)
This week we leave the sunshine of Wales behind and head into Bristol. A long and hot car ride with some standstill traffic sees us cross into England before meeting up with Tom's brother, Merran. Isabel's brothers come round and we take off for a walk through St Werburghs to The Farm, a farm in the middle of the city with a great beer garden! We enjoy the quirky sites and street art before heading to pub number two, The Duke of York. We have a couple more beers and play some pool. We then head back to Merran and Emily's house where Merran cooks up a storm. You then join us again a day later, we head out to meet up with Harry and explore the Clifton area of Bristol. We catch the train and stroll through Clifton Village, and rummage through some charity shops. We then head to the White Lion...

Bristol is a city straddling the River Avon in the southwest of England with a prosperous maritime history. Its former city-center port is now a cultural hub, the Harbourside, where the M Shed museum explores local social and industrial heritage.
The harbor's 19th-century warehouses now contain restaurants, shops, and cultural institutions such as contemporary art gallery The Arnolfini.

Reminiscing England: A Coach Tour Experience of Bristol, Coventry and beyond in 1963

The original film had footage taken inside the coach but I left it out because it was far to jumpy to watch. That was at the beginning of the film.
The film begins with the passengers waiting before boarding the coach and a view of them sat in their seats. Next they are walking alongside a river. Then they are off again on the coach and they are on a road which is very quiet apart from the occasional passing car.
Another stop and this time it is to some Gardens - I have no idea where, so if someone knows where it is please comment below. A view looking down onto the street below followed by a panoramic view of the City, followed by a visit to an old building with gardens. Once again anyone who knows where this is, please comment below.
Views of a river with yachts sailing and this area must be near to a Stately Home.
The Heading "University Gardens" just after the halfway point of the video and more Gardens followed by (I presume) the University Buildings.
Then it is onto Clifton Bridge near Bristol, followed by Coventry. The New Coventry Cathedral had been opened in 1962, but our cameraman films the Original Cathedral, followed by views of a shopping precinct.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. Since opening in 1864, it has been a toll bridge, the income from which provides funds for its maintenance. The bridge is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It is a Grade I listed building and forms part of the B3129 road.
On 12 February 2014 the bridge was closed to traffic due to wind for the first time in living memory.

Width - 31ft
Height - 331ft
Longest Span - 702ft
Clearance - 245ft above high water level
Opened - 1864
Daily Traffic -8,800 (2010)

This week we leave the sunshine of Wales behind and head into Bristol. A long and hot car ride with some standstill traffic sees us cross into England before me...
This week we leave the sunshine of Wales behind and head into Bristol. A long and hot car ride with some standstill traffic sees us cross into England before meeting up with Tom's brother, Merran. Isabel's brothers come round and we take off for a walk through St Werburghs to The Farm, a farm in the middle of the city with a great beer garden! We enjoy the quirky sites and street art before heading to pub number two, The Duke of York. We have a couple more beers and play some pool. We then head back to Merran and Emily's house where Merran cooks up a storm.
You then join us again a day later, we head out to meet up with Harry and explore the Clifton area of Bristol. We catch the train and stroll through Clifton Village, and rummage through some charity shops. We then head to the White Lion and have a beer over looking the Clifton suspension bridge. We are then joined by George and decide to have a walk over the bridge itself. We then wander into the city centre, en route, Isabel tries out Bristol's electric scooters (voi). We walk along the water front, eyeing up the houseboats and day dreaming about boatlife. Next, we hop in a taxi and head to Knowle to meet up with Isabel's sister and we meet her nephew for the first time. We then head out for pizza!
The next day Isabel heads out alone to meet up with her cousin who also live in Bristol. Their adventures take them back over the suspension bridge and into Leigh Woods, where a mistake with the mic leaves Tom in charge of dubbing the sound. The group then head back to Harry's for an evening of pasta and games. The next day is our last in Bristol and we make our way back to Cornwall.

The urban area population of 724,000 is the 8th-largest in the UK. The original film had footage taken inside the coach but I left it out because it was far to jumpy to watch. That was at the beginning of the film.
The film begins with the passengers waiting before boarding the coach and a view of them sat in their seats. Next they are walking alongside a river. Then they are off again on the coach and they are on a road which is very quiet apart from the occasional passing car.
Another stop and this time it is to some Gardens - I have no idea where, so if someone knows where it is please comment below. A view looking down onto the street below followed by a panoramic view of the City, followed by a visit to an old building with gardens. Once again anyone who knows where this is, please comment below.
Views of a river with yachts sailing and this area must be near to a Stately Home.
The Heading "University Gardens" just after the halfway point of the video and more Gardens followed by (I presume) the University Buildings.
Then it is onto Clifton Bridge near Bristol, followed by Coventry. The New Coventry Cathedral had been opened in 1962, but our cameraman films the Original Cathedral, followed by views of a shopping precinct.
Clifton Suspension Bridge
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. Since opening in 1864, it has been a toll bridge, the income from which provides funds for its maintenance. The bridge is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It is a Grade I listed building and forms part of the B3129 road.
On 12 February 2014 the bridge was closed to traffic due to wind for the first time in living memory.

Coventry Cathedral
The Cathedral Church of Saint Michael, commonly known as Coventry Cathedral, is the seat of the Bishop of Coventry and the Diocese of Coventry within the Church of England. The cathedral is located in Coventry, West Midlands, England.
The city has had three cathedrals. The first was St Mary's, a monastic building, from 1102–1539, of which only a few ruins remain. The second was St Michael's, a 14th-century Gothic church designated as a cathedral in 1918, which remains a ruined shell after its bombing during the Second World War, apart from its tower and spire, which rise to 284 feet (87 metres). The third, consecrated in 1962, is the new St Michael's Cathedral, built immediately adjacent to the ruins and tower of the former cathedral, which is a symbol of war time destruction and barbarity, but also of peace and reconciliation.

This week we leave the sunshine of Wales behind and head into Bristol. A long and hot car ride with some standstill traffic sees us cross into England before meeting up with Tom's brother, Merran. Isabel's brothers come round and we take off for a walk through St Werburghs to The Farm, a farm in the middle of the city with a great beer garden! We enjoy the quirky sites and street art before heading to pub number two, The Duke of York. We have a couple more beers and play some pool. We then head back to Merran and Emily's house where Merran cooks up a storm.
You then join us again a day later, we head out to meet up with Harry and explore the Clifton area of Bristol. We catch the train and stroll through Clifton Village, and rummage through some charity shops. We then head to the White Lion and have a beer over looking the Clifton suspension bridge. We are then joined by George and decide to have a walk over the bridge itself. We then wander into the city centre, en route, Isabel tries out Bristol's electric scooters (voi). We walk along the water front, eyeing up the houseboats and day dreaming about boatlife. Next, we hop in a taxi and head to Knowle to meet up with Isabel's sister and we meet her nephew for the first time. We then head out for pizza!
The next day Isabel heads out alone to meet up with her cousin who also live in Bristol. Their adventures take them back over the suspension bridge and into Leigh Woods, where a mistake with the mic leaves Tom in charge of dubbing the sound. The group then head back to Harry's for an evening of pasta and games. The next day is our last in Bristol and we make our way back to Cornwall.

Bristol (1866)
Bristol was a large sidewheel steamer launched in 1866 by William H. Webb of New York for the Merchants Steamship Company. One of Narragansett Bay's so-called "floating palaces", the luxuriously outfitted Bristol and her sister ship Providence, each of which could carry up to 1,200 passengers, were installed with the largest engines then built in the United States, and were considered to be amongst the finest American-built vessels of their era.
Both ships would spend their entire careers steaming between New York and various destinations in and around Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. Bristol was eventually destroyed by a fire while in port in 1888.
Development
Bristol and Providence owed their existence to a short-lived company known as the Merchants Steamship Company, which placed the initial order for the vessels with the Webb shipyard in about 1865. Merchants Steamship was an amalgamation of three existing Narragansett Bay shipping lines, the Commercial Line, Neptune Line and Stonington Line. The Company intended to run the two steamers between New York and Bristol, Rhode Island in competition with the Fall River Line, which ran a similar service from New York to Fall River, Massachusetts (both Lines then linking up to railway lines that continued on to Boston).
